Back with more great savings: Hoverspeed returns with best channel shopping deals

21 March 2005

Anticipating another bumper year for retail sales after a record breaking 2004, leading fast ferry operator Hoverspeed resumes its Dover to Calais Seacat services for the 2005 season with a new and extensive range of the best shopping offers on the Channel.

Hoverspeed resumed its daily fast ferry services on 17 March and the operator has lined up more great savings for customers. ‘Many of our old favourites are back and we’ve also added some great new products to ensure that we offer something for everyone who travels with us – and of course all our wines, beers and spirits are free of UK duty,’ said Barry Hopkins, Hoverspeed’s retail buying and marketing manager.

A range of beers, wines, spirits and tobacco can be pre-ordered before departure in Dover. An even wider range is available in Calais along with a selection of perfumes and gifts. You can also shop on board Hoverspeed’s Seacats during your crossing. Among the best bargains in 2005 are:

Kronenbourg 1664 lager (24 x 50cl) 3 cases for £28 – saving over £17 on UK prices.

Martell VS – 2 litres for just £28 (half price when compared to UK High Street prices). Martell is the most popular cognac in the UK.

Fruits of France - £1.99 per bottle. A popular choice and great value.

Louis Latour Grand Ardeche - £4.99 per bottle (UK High Street price £7.49) – PLUS buy 6 and save £6 (supplied in a wooden case). This is from one of the most famous wine makers in France in the Grand Ardeche. A smooth full-bodied wine with a taste of exotic fruits and vanilla spice. Also new are many other Latour wines available in Hoverspeed’s Calais store.

Famous Grouse Gold Reserve - £19.99 for 1 litre. This deluxe whisky is aged for 12 years in oak casks to develop a unique richness and depth of flavour.

Plymouth Gin – 1 litre for £11.99. Winner of the BBC Good Food magazine Best Gin Award 2002, Plymouth Gin has a great depth of flavour and is stronger than other gins at 41.2%.

Joining the range of fragrances available with Hoverspeed in 2005 is the latest J-Lo perfume called Miami Glow, and the first perfume to be released by Britney Spears called Curious. As the Channel’s leading retailer, Hoverspeed’s unique and innovative range of shopping opportunities include:

- At the Dover terminal a selection of wines, beers and spirits on display. A pre-order, pre-pay service is available for shoppers before leaving the UK which means you do not need to carry any purchases. Foot passengers can collect their orders on arrival back in the UK, after passport control, and motorists can collect their goods on return at the Calais terminal.

- Calais’ land based shop offers a wide choice of wines, beers, spirits, tobacco, fragrances, gifts and confectionery. Unlike other Continental stores, Hoverspeed’s Calais store is open seven days a week.

- Shopping with Hoverspeed also includes a pre-order facility in Dover or online and collect at the Calais drive-through shop on arrival in France.

- On board the company’s fleet of jumbo Seacats, there is a well-stocked retail shop. For the first time this year the company’s popular pre-order service has now been extended to the on-board shopping outlets.

Hoverspeed’s Dover to Calais Seacat service will provide up to nine return sailings daily, with a crossing time of under one hour.
