HOVERSPEED BUCKS MARKET TREND ON BUSY DOVER-CALAIS ROUTE25 June 2004 High speed car ferry operator Hoverspeed has recorded growth of 5.1% in tourist car carryings over the last 12 week period on its Dover Calais Seacat services. Achieved on the competitive high frequency short sea route to Calais, the company has carried nearly 5,000 more tourist vehicles compared to the same period in 2003. Hoverspeeds performance in boosting traffic compares favourably to overall market trends according to official Port of Dover figures, tourist car carryings fell by an average of 6% at Dover from January to May this year. Hoverspeeds ever-improving market position in a tough trading environment, combined with the popularity among the travelling public, preferring speed and exclusive levels of personal service, is clearly reflected in these latest figures, says Managing Director Geoffrey Ede. Since re-introducing its Dover Calais route earlier this year, the company continues to innovate and develop its unique range of products and services. These include: - competitive fares current single saver of 49 one way - high standard of personal service on board and in the terminals - excellent retail offers available to Hoverspeed customers - convenience and speed. With a combined fleet of three Seacats, Hoverspeed provides up to 15 return sailings daily between Dover and Calais, with a crossing time of just one hour. The company also operates the seasonal Newhaven Dieppe service with a high speed Superseacat providing a crossing time of just two hours, with up to three return sailings daily.
